This is a milestone in the development of alcohol-free sparkling “wines”, as the alcohol is not laboriously removed. Sparkling wine pioneer Willi Bründlmayer and his team have composed the Fizz from verjus, grape juice, and other alcohol-free ingredients. On the nose: fruity, with notes of citrus, bergamot, stone fruit, and grape; on the palate: an invigorating mousse, pleasantly dry, with fruit sweetness balanced only by fine acidity, again showing citrus notes and a delicate spiciness.”

BEST SPARKLING WINE OF AUSTRIA – Falstaff 2026/27

Bründlmayer Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 2014 was awarded the title of “Best Sparkling Wine of Austria” in the Falstaff Wine Guide 2026/27. With 97 points, it received the highest Falstaff score ever awarded to an Austrian sparkling wine.

Thanks to intensive care and meticulous attention, our vines are still in excellent condition. After a strong growth spurt at the beginning of July, the prolonged dry period had brought vine development to a standstill. Recent local rainfall of between 7 litres (Loiserberg) and 12 litres (Heiligenstein) is giving us a brief respite.

We are now monitoring how much of this rain reaches the roots through the parched soil and will be taken in by the plants. This could get the ripening process back on track and, once again, lead to an early begin of harvest.
