A “Timeless Monument”: Weingut Bründlmayer Ried Rosenhügel Gelber Muskateller TBA 2018 awarded best Vinaria sweet wine
"The big winner of the tasting comes from the renowned Bründlmayer winery in Langenlois, which recently released a TBA from Gelber Muskateller that is doubly astonishing. It is a single-vineyard wine from Ried Rosenhügel and also a 2018 vintage. Nevertheless, this Muscat surprises with its youthful vitality, an enormously balanced juicy fruit sweetness, and a particularly distinctive acidity structure that make it a timeless monument. ‘A wine for eternity,’ as Willi Bründlmayer puts it." *
Sweet is not the word!
In Prädikat wines, sweetness is merely the carrier of the message, the hardware, so to speak, in which the enchanting aromas and textures are stored:
“Paraffin, candle wax, lots of spice, herbal tea, chamomile, dense and profound, but less fruit at first; enormously dense, lots of caramel, on the palate explosively full-bodied fruit notes; lots of blood orange, passion fruit, pineapple, wine full of energy, juicy and long, great balance.” **
A great wine for all occasions
Gelber Muskateller TBA 2018 is naturally a wine for the grand stage, but it doesn't need it! Its true greatness is just as evident on smaller occasions. Its charisma ensures it attracts attention. Even to the untrained palate, it is likely to offer a memorable taste experience, which is precisely why it is so easy to serve. The best sweet wine is truly liquid entertainment. It fits into any pleasant gathering, at home, as a quick guessing game, in your favorite bar as a ‘super shot’ between long drinks, in a restaurant as a little highlight in a champagne, sparkling wine, or wine glass that has just been emptied before the evening, or at a slightly more formal ‘get-together’ as an ‘icebreaker’. But it must be repeated: only the very best noble sweet wines can amaze even laymen in this way and leave a happy memory, even if they are not celebrated at length.
