“Bründlmayers’ Chardonnay is so hedonistic, beautiful, and captivating.”
In her gourmet column “Caro kommt rum,” Caro Maurer MW searches for the most impressive Chardonnays from Austria and finds what she’s looking for in Langenlois: “At Willi Bründlmayer’s winery in the Kamptal, Chardonnay has long secured a firm place alongside Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. The 2022 Reserve from the Steinberg vineyard is so hedonistic, so beautiful, so captivating with this wealth of impressions unfolding in the glass: peach and baked apple up front, followed by nougat, vanilla, and crème brûlée. In the 1980s, Bründlmayer’s Chardonnay won a blind tasting of Chardonnays from around the world at the Vinitaly (…) wine fair.
