Heiligenstein Futures!
What makes a great wine?
A great location, a noble grape variety, a successful vintage, a great future – that's what the experts say. All these conditions apply to our Heiligenstein vineyard in Zöbing. It is one of Austria's most famous vineyards, even internationally. At the heart of the vineyard still grow Riesling vines up to 100 years old. They even survived World War II. As we know, this grape variety consistently produces great wines, whether dry or sweet. However, we would like to note that there are no wines without winemakers, whose individual styles may help to realize the great potential of a vineyard.
It is always a special pleasure for us at the winery to read enthusiastic reviews and detailed descriptions from experts who once predicted a great future for a particular wine, which they then put to the test again decades later in an enjoyable tasting. High ratings are also a rarity, so it's all the nicer when they sign the description again, so to speak, and thus lift the wine out of time.
This is what great wine tastes like!
As luck would have it, both Viktor Siegl and Adi Schmid tasted jewels from Bründlmayer Heiligenstein a few days ago. Raw diamonds in their youth, polished into brilliants by time in the cellar. Their wine descriptions speak for themselves. We would like to thank these two great masters of wine criticism and, above all, wine enjoyment for their contributions. They provide valuable testimonials, quasi memories of youth and its potential, but also valuable testimonials from resourceful wine scouts of the present.
2012 Riesling Alte Reben Ried Zöbinger Heiligenstein - Weingut Bründlmayer, Langenlois
Light yellow with greenish reflections, a very fine, charming nose reminiscent of orange blossom, woodruff, and mint, accentuated and delicate, very fresh and lively; also pure and clearly structured on the palate, yet taut and tightly woven, exuding finesse and cool elegance, but above all astonishingly youthful, with fruit aromas of white peach and sugar melon, extremely racy and long-lasting, now seems to have reached its optimal drinking maturity, which could last for many years to come.

1997 Riesling “Zöbinger Heiligenstein - Alte Reben” BRÜNDLMAYER – LANGENLOIS
Yellow-gold, initially subtle reduction, but then - yellow stone fruit such as vineyard peach, pineapple, orange peel, citrus peel, mango, blossom honey, highly elegant, delicate, sparkling clean, brightly fruity, full of character and depth, light, fresh, lively, mineral, still young after 28 years, fascinating fruit, dancing on the palate with a firm structure, simply magnificent. A great Riesling from recent Austrian wine history from a great vintage.

WOW - what an enchanting, almost fairy-tale Riesling, dancing, playful, elegant, subtle, delicate, light-footed, filigree, words fail me, perfect balance, stone fruit, ripe apple, mint, blossom honey, nougat, citrus zest, apricot, pineapple, the most delicate creaminess, fresh and playful, the finest sweetness, wonderful acidity, super juicy, crystal clear, youthful. A fascinating, timeless Riesling with total freshness. WORLD CLASS.
