Baby Boars on Loiser Berg!
On Berg Vogelsang (cool western slope of the Loiser Berg), wild boars feel just as at home as our Grüner Veltliner vines! We wine growers view this little natural spectacle with mixed feelings. We are delighted to have a healthy ecosystem that also provides a habitat for a wide variety of flora and fauna. However, once the young herd grows up, the idyll is over, even among the animals. If the territory becomes too small, the hunting community must intervene in the interests of balance and organic farming. The clever “bristly beast” is not easy to hunt and is therefore only occasionally on the menu in Kamptal restaurants – if at all, one can enjoy this meat, having been taken from the wild, with a clear conscience! Domesticated animals can hardly grow up in such a “species-appropriate” manner.
