Before the 2025 harvest I:
Sunny days are coming! The weather has changed at just the right time, and we now expect ripening to accelerate.
The last few weeks have been cooler and rainy, which has been good for the plants. The vineyards are healthy and well cared for, excessive growth has been tamed and we have ensured a balanced ratio of wood, foliage and fruit.
We find it exciting to compare the climate data from the very warm year of 2024 with that of this year. The graphs show to the eye what would be more complicated to explain in words and numbers. The comparison reveals how each vintage is marked by a plethora of smaller or bigger differences building its own unique history. The “elegant” climate curve for 2025 so far gives us reason to hope for the best! Ideal temperatures for growth, a good supply of water and now plenty of sunshine too. A classic start to the main harvest, not too early in September seems realistic. Only when the must is in the cellar can we get an idea of the “new vintage”. But to put it bluntly: everything looks very good so far.
