Wine Diary
Before the harvest II
Ready to go: We rewarded ourselves with a small, delicious barbecue party after completing the harvest preparations. Many thanks to Christoph & Christopher, our fireproof men at the stove!
We want to take a breather over the weekend before the sparkling base wine harvest really gets underway on Monday. Here in eastern Austria, the offshoots of a low-pressure system over the UK have barely touched us. The Kamptal region remains under the influence of a very warm southwesterly current for the time being.
The vineyards are in excellent health, the fruit set is encouraging and mostly balanced with the vines. Ripening in the „Erste Lagen“ vineyards is developing slowly but steadily. If the weather holds, Monday could be a picture-perfect start.
