What do you mean by early?
The start of flowering in 2025 in the Kamptal
For 2025, we are talking about an average start to flowering, as we are referring to the last few years. However, if we take the last 60 years into account, i.e. roughly two generations, the warming of the climate becomes more apparent: the “trend curve of the end of flowering 1965-2024” from the Krems School of Viticulture is a valuable visual representation. It gives us this insight literally at first sight (see below)!
In sunny weather, we enjoy walking through the carefully tended rows of vines: red clover intersperses the lush green of the grasses and legumes with its bright colours. The images have an impressionistic effect, and the scent of elderberry bushes, the last acacia blossoms and soon the scent of grape blossoms, which is intense but almost impossible for humans to define, beguile the senses. The sun in the exposed vineyards is good for the vines, but visitors should protect themselves accordingly.
