Wine Diary
A Hot Phase
Summer has already made a strong appearance in June! Interrupted by days with refreshing rainfall, the warm weather has advanced the vegetation. Our vineyards are doing well, overall healthy with moderate fruit set. The blooming was essentially completed by the end of June. A few plots in the Donauland region, which were slightly affected by frost, showed a remarkable phenomenon: shoots that had completely survived the frost already had grape clusters with pea-sized berries. Clusters whose shoots grew from the reserve (basal) buds were still in bloom. We are also interested in seeing how much the ripeness will even out before the harvest. Of course, good winemakers are accustomed to multiple hand harvests for qualities that are meant to meet the highest standards.
