Wine Diary

Before the 2024 harvest

August 14, 2024

Today, the first grapes for our 'Verjus' are harvested. The still somewhat 'green' grapes already have an enticing flavor. Their fresh, unfermented juice is a traditional specialty of the wine countries. Highly prized as a condiment since ancient times, today we love it a touch riper and therefore fruitier. It serves as the basis for delicious drinks, but above all for our fruity, sparkling Grapester.

Next week, the harvest will really get going with grapes for our Brut Rosé. This means we will start about 10 days earlier than wed did in 2023. The vineyards are doing really well! You can see that they were always well supplied. On the climate map of cumulative annual precipitation, we are fortunately well above the long-term average this year. The rain was also well distributed throughout the year and therefore particularly beneficial for the vines.
