Wine Diary
Meteorological spring
With the beginning of spring (March 1st, following the meteorological calendar) a lot of work is waiting for us in the vineyards: exchanging old or setting new wooden posts at the end of vineyard rows, repairing trellises to prepare the rows for the later binding, which we will start after the first warmer spring days, as soon as the juice starts flowing and the thrives get more elastic and bendable. Supported by the trellises each young shoot will gain enough stability, room and light for its full development.
Some of the freshly cut surfaces already shimmer with moisture. For now we are happy to expect more cool nights that slow down the sprouting. The sooner the young shoots will dare to come forward, the longer and more likely they will be exposed to the risk of an April or May frost.
Good news from our cellar! Both Bründlmayer “Kamptal Terrassen” wines of 2022 have just been released following our charming Zweigelt Rosé and the light footed Grüner Veltliner L&T! May the “Weinfrühling” (wine spring) begin!
