Wine Diary
A brief sigh of relief!
August 7, 2026
Our vineyards have ‘weathered’ this unprecedented heatwave for the time being! Over the last 48 hours, we’ve recorded between 6 and 12 litres of rainfall at the monitoring stations in the Kamptal – that is like emptying the contents of a medium to large watering can onto every square meter. Winegrowers and vines might breathe a sigh of relief. We are now monitoring how much of this rain reaches the roots through the parched soil and will be taken in by the plants. This could get the ripening process back on track and, once again, lead to an early begin of harvest.
