Fulfilling Harvest Days!
Fine fruit from Spiegel and Rosenhügel!
Excellent late summer weather pushes ripeness in the vineyards! On Wednesday, we could finish Pinot Gris & Pinot Blanc harvest on Langenloiser Spiegel bringing in perfectly ripe and sufficiently fresh fruit, mostly clean grapes that needed minimal selection. We should even manage again to get one or two barrels of our charming, eccentric “Rawländer” (cf. Harvest Diary Sept 21), at least the fine must has already started bubbling in its wooden vat.
Yesterday, on Langenloiser Rosenhügel, we focused on another little speciality of our ‘domaine’, namely Gelber Muskateller. It is not every year that Rosenhügel gives us grapes that are tasteful and healthy, so that hardly any sorting is needed. (See picture below!)
Meanwhile, the rain predicted for Saturday seems to have all but disappeared in the current prediction. However, this weekend, we will allow ourselves a well-deserved break!
