Wine Diary
Mission Accomplished!
With joint forces we succeeded in pre-selecting all vineyards involved in last week’s hailstorm! In some of the best sites (Langenloiser Berg-Vogelsang, Käferberg, Spiegel…) hail protection nets had fulfilled their function. Generally, it is still uncertain how much we lost, however, as matters stand, we may breathe a sigh of relief!
Fair winds!
After the heavy rainfalls, strong warm and dry south-easterly winds help to dry up the vineyards and push ripeness. For the moment this classic ‘föhn’-weather is a blessing! Our people in the cellar are delighted about the quality of the early varietals coming in, such as Pinot Noir from Käferberg and Dechant showing potential for the finest red wine. Confidence is quickly rising also with regards to our lighter white wine: Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc are already tasting great and seem ready for harvest.
If things go on like this over the coming days, we should be able to lay the foundations for a good vintage!
