Golden Autumn Days in Kamptal!
We are heading towards the end of a very intensive but also gratifying harvest week. Consistent weather inspires our cellar team, not only because we will soon reach the final bend. We really made great progress these last days!
We have managed to get the fruit in from most of the smaller sites (partly terraced parcels) under perfect conditions. Tuesday the last Riesling grapes arrived at the Cellar, tomorrow we should finish ready classic Grüner Veltliner also from the cooler spots. Then, we are still waiting for Grüner Veltliner from Vincent’s “Spiegel”.
In the meanwhile both musts, from “Käferberg” as well as from “Lamm” vineyard, have spontaneously started fermentation. Looks like we also “picked” the ideal moment of harvest there! Meanwhile we managed to press the last pinot noirs, that had passed some 3 weeks on the mash.
A golden Autumn weekend has been forcasted! Perfectly ripe Muskateller is still waiting to be harvested on “Rosenhügel” (rose hill). He will get our full attention soon. As the weather is likely to remain stable until the middle of next week, we decided to wait still a while for the Cabernet Francs from Heiligenstein.
