Wine Diary
Lamm is done!
Under perfect weather conditions we were able to get in all our grapes of “Ried Lamm” over the weekend. Cool nights and sunny days added a bit of depth and complexity to the fruit. Skies over Kamptal only started to get cloudy on Monday. We then were harvesting Vincent’s Grüner Veltliners on “Ried Spiegel”, when some drops of rain delayed us until Tuesday. However, “Ried Heiligenstein” was already waiting for another run: First it was the meticulous selection of the Rieslings followed by the LYRA – trellised Cabernect Francs at the terraced middle foothill of this excellent historic site.
As of today, we estimate to spend another intensive two weeks before harvest 2018 will be history.
After the last working weekend, on a hard Monday’s night, a glass of fresh white wine proved to be a true treat! We found that both Grüner Veltliner and Riesling Terrassen showing beautifully! Also afterwards, the fine Zweigelt Reserve 2015 offered enormous drinking pleasure! It has again been improved by maturity.
