... & Golden „Grüner“

October 16, 2018

It is strange for a Kamptal producer to talk about a late harvesting around mid-October, but looking around we are alone.

However, the last weeks brought us grapes that we did not dare to hope for at the beginning. To the power, to the charming fruit and spicy aromas of the earlier grapes, more depth and complexity has been added, as well as fine, floral and exotic citrus tones. Moreover, soft phenols and good length characterize the structure of the later parts of the vintage.

We are still getting in golden Grüner Veltliners from different cooler sites in really acceptable quantities, and maybe just because of the latter they still show enough freshness and elegance. Therefore they will be valuable cuvée partners for “Kamptal“ and “Langenlois” wines.

Now we are heading for the most westerly Riesling cru, the “Langenloiser Steinmassl.” This cooler site usually takes more time to give us fully ripe fruit. For 2018, this will be the last one to pick of all our “Erste Lagen“. By the end of the week it will be already 2 months of busy harvesting site after site with the highest concentration. Now, finally we see the happy end approaching…
