Acacia Flowering
Our Acacia trees start flowering right before the vines, which opens a paradise (land of milk and honey) to our bees! We growers too have a legitimate interest in this date: from then on, we may speculate about the when harvest might start. 2021 will be marked by an unusually late flowering, a date more common during the last decades of the 20th century and much later than in recent years!
We expect the flowering around the same time as in 2010, 2008, 2001, 1999 and even a bit earlier than in 1991, which was a year of lighter & fresher wines, many of them still showing a lot of finesse today. In short: we are expecting truly great base wines for Sekt, many light, crisp and maybe very fine, very late harvested, dry white wines, but no full-bodied, deeply coloured red wines.
However, for now we are truly enjoying the fine scent of our acacia flowers that also can be processed into an amazing treat.
