Harvest 2014 – Here we go
Harvest 2014 – Here we go
Under the first sunbeams of this mild September day, our harvest team selected the earliest, freshest grapes of our vineyards for Bründlmayer Sparkling base wines.
What does 2014 remind us of?
At this moment, one might only think of this year’s rainy, less sunny August, and might forget that many other years were much wetter. For instance, in 2002 we had much more rain in summer than we have had in 2014, and those grapes resulted in some of the finest wines, most notably from the stony hillsides.
The moisture proves unfavorable mostly in the lower, flatter and more fertile sites, especially around rivers and lakes.
On the hillsides around Langenlois, development and health of the grapes are fine, for the time being. Leaves still show a deep, healthy green.
More climate data regarding 2014 can be found under www.bruendlmayer.at/klima (report in German language incl. graphical overview). Here you will find monthly and annual sunshine hours, as well as precipitation, average temperatures and flowering periods for the last 30 years.
