Wine Diary
Harvest has started
Wonderful warm, sunny weather pushed grape maturity almost explosively! As of now it is all hands to the harvest! Conditions are ideal for getting in the grapes for Sekt base wines: sugar is low enough, the grapes skin healthy, acidity very very fresh, yet no longer aggressive.
We have started with St. Laurent, followed by Zweigelt and Pinot Noir for our Brut Rosé. Then we will go out for Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay along with some Grüner for our Brut. Later we may get Chardonnay and Pinot for Extra Brut. Here we look for just a bit more maturity, the wines may have a tiny bit more weight, but never should be heavy.
The weather forecast is laughing with us. Everybody is in a good mood, our young trainees from all parts of the world have also arrived and are really keen on harvest!
