We're a Go for Main Harvest
What a wonderful September! 237 hours of sunshine (well above the average of 163) temperature of 3°C higher, 17mm less rain than average… A great compensation for the rainy summer! We are enjoying the perfect harvesting weather and watching the enormous progress of grape maturation!
Through great teamwork, we already harvested all of the grapes for Sekt base wine, most of the Zweigelt Rosé, lighter Grüner Veltliner and gorgeous Pinot Noir! If it stays dry, we will bring in Pinot Gris & Pinot Blanc of the “Spiegel” vineyard soon.
Hand picking in 2016 is sophisticated and therefore time consuming. It will not do, just to cut off the grapes; each bunch has to be taken into the hands, turned around to be pruned and cleaned out meticulously before being gently laid down into the harvest basket. The result is perfectly healthy and mature grapes with a fine fruit flavor promising a great wine.
