Filling, Pruning and Repairs…

January 15, 2021

Our first young "messengers of vintage 2020” have left our maturing cellar: Zweigelt Rosé and Grüner Veltliner L+T (short for Leicht und Trocken = light & dry) already show essential characteristics of the new Kamptal vintage: we expect many fragrant, fine, fresh and fruity wines. Balance and drinking pleasure also indicate a classic “Austrian” vintage. The skilled craftsmanship of growers and cellar masters will express itself first through purity and finesse.

We are currently busy with sustainable pruning. The cool January temperatures are beneficial to our resting vines. Our people, however, literally have to wrap up warm!

Time between cutting and sprouting has to be used for all kinds of maintenance and repair work: after pulling off the disconnected tendrils we will exchange old stakes and tension lines or replace the wires wherever necessary.

Nature has even brought a bit of snow to Langenlois! On days when the sun bursts through the clouds, we always take home wonderful impressions from the winter vineyard landscape.
