Wine Diary
Perfect Start
So far, this has been a perfect harvest week! The rain, announced for last Thursday, did not fall, even though, at noon around Langenlois heavy clouds were hovering menacingly deep. Today, the early autumn sun is again shining on the Kamptal, and fresh winds are taking the morning dew away from the vineyards. Thus we had the chance to bring in considerable amounts of grapes for our sparkling base wines without haste. For Brut Rosé we will have completed picking by the end of this week!
We are observing a slow but steady increase of ripeness in our vineyards: even in the most westerly, coolest “Erste Lage” of the Kamptal, on the “Loiserberg.” To our pleasure we are now able to taste the classic fruity-spicy varietal character in the Grüner Veltliner grapes. With more ‘100 berries tests’ we will continue monitoring the progress of maturation.
The weather forecast also contributes to the good atmosphere here in Langenlois!
