Some fine ‘Lamm’ to be expected!
It was a real thrill to be standing in the ‘Kammerner Lamm’ today, on this sunny final day of the 2026 main harvest! What is arguably Kamptal’ s most famous Grüner Veltliner vineyard, situated on the eastern foothills of the Heiligenstein, was looking its best in early autumn splendor. The late-summer weather, with gently freshening breezes, played right into our hands during the harvest. In a calm and orderly manner, the golden-yellow grapes from the Lyra vineyard—at their peak of ripeness—were harvested into small crates and transported to the press house.
Another ‘prime cut’ to round things off!
Speaking of Lyra: just a few hundred meters west of ‘RiedLamm’, on the lower slopes of the ‘Zöbinger Heiligenstein’, there are also several terraces trained in Lyra method. The thick, gnarled trunks already indicate that no Riesling thrives in this plot, which is probably the hottest in the vineyard. These are Cabernet Franc vines over 40 years old, which Willi Bründlmayer planted in his younger days ‘with wise foresight’. This year, the grapes were able to ripen fully throughout the long, hot summer under the shade of the LYRA trellises. This afternoon, we also brought these precious fruits into the cellar. We are extremely excited to see the result!
