A brilliant week of harvesting!
The atmosphere at Bründlmayer today is fantastic! Thanks to this final week of late summer, we’ve happily managed to complete the majority of the harvest! As if on cue, the rain fell only at the start and end of the day or overnight; that, too, helped enormously!
All the Kamptal terraces planted with Riesling and Grüner Veltliner – the varieties we need for our classic wines – have been harvested in stages over the past few weeks. A little earlier, we had started with the Burgundy vineyards in the north-eastern Kamptal and at Ried Spiegel. We then moved on to the classic cooler sites at Langenloiser Steinberg and Berg-Vogelsang, later on to Loiserberg and also at Steinmassl.
The highlight came midweek at the Zöbinger Heiligenstein, where the oldest Riesling vines proved their resilience in the face of the drought, yielding small but highly aromatic, crystal-clear grapes.
Latest News! Following 2023, the Gelber Muskateller – so popular with our local customers – will finally be available again in 2026. The grapes look promising, but it is only through the transformation in the cellar that the character of this speciality from the Rosenhügel vineyard will truly emerge.
Time and again, we are delighted by the wide range of our Muskateller wines during historical tastings from our wine cellar. From fragrant, fresh, dry examples – such as those typically known in their lighter form from Styria – to long-lived, well-structured wines, some of which have been matured in small barrels
Although, as expected, yields have generally been low, the quality of the grapes is a source of delight not only for the wines to come, but also because it was this quality that made such a swift harvest possible in the first place. To round off the season in style, we are now focusing entirely on the premier vineyards of Käferberg, Spiegel and Lamm. We expect the harvest to be completed in the course of next week.
