Start of harvest 2026
Grapes for “Bubbles”
A cool, sunny morning with gentle breezes. The blue sky is picturesquely dotted with clouds: perfect conditions to start the harvest!
We’re starting with Chardonnay from Steinberg and Rosenhügel, and later today we’ll also harvest the first Pinot Noir grapes for the base wine for sparkling wine. Next up are Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, Zweigelt, St. Laurent, and finally some Grüner Veltliner.
The grape set is good; due to the weather, the berries are very small but have an astonishing intensity of flavor. The juice yield will likely be somewhat lower. We’re very excited to see how the must tastes. After the hot summer, the sparkling wine harvest won’t last too long. The ripening window should close as early as next week, if the forecasts are correct.
